The busTRACE I/O filtering feature removes the I/O activity from view. The captured I/Os still remain in memory. You can view them again by readjusting the filter settings. busTRACE provides an option to permanently remove the I/O from memory. This provides you several benefits:

  • The memory associated with the I/O is freed
  • When saving the I/O activity to file, the capture file will be smaller

When removing one or more I/Os, the removal is permanent. There is NO Undo capability.

The first thing you'll want to do is select the I/Os you are interested in removing in the I/O Capture List window. To select a single I/O, simply click on it with the mouse pointer. If you want to select multiple I/Os, you can use the Shift or Ctrl keys to multi-select I/Os. Shift to select a range of I/O and Ctrl to individually select I/Os. Click on the button on the toolbar to remove the I/Os (or choose Remove I/O(s) from the Edit menu).
