New to busTRACE 7.0 is the inclusion of busFAULT 7.0. This application allows you to simulate device or bus failures. This application serves two main functions:
- For MultiPath / MPIO users, it allows you to force a device failure to ensure that the MultiPath failover path is handled properly.
- If you are a software developer, or a test engineer, you can force spurious faults to make sure that your software responds to any failure properly.
busTRACE 7.0 is fully busFAULT aware. If you are capturing I/O activity, and busFAULT forces an I/O to fail, the busFAULT icon will appear in the I/O Capture List. This lets you quickly determine that this was a busFAULT forced failure, and not an error returned from the device.
Our software allows you to simulate check condition failures and SRB status failures. You specify the number of sequential I/Os to fail or you can configure busFAULT to randomly fail I/O activity. |
