When you start the busTRACE capture process, a docked Capture Status window automatically appears on the right-most portion of the busTRACE window. This pane shows you the current Capture Status.

Capture Start Time This field shows you the time busTRACE started capturing I/O activity.
Elapsed Time This field shows you the time into the capture.
Total I/Os Processed This section shows you the total number of I/Os that have been processed.
Total I/Os Cached This section shows you the total number of I/Os that are in the capture buffer. This could be less than the Total I/Os Processed if you have filled your capture buffer (and older I/O has been removed to make room for newer I/O activity).
Trigger Point Hit This section shows you whether a trigger point has been hit or not.
Capture Buffer This section shows you how much of your capture buffer is filled with busTRACE capture data.
Insert Message Directly above the Insert Message link is an edit box. Here, you can type in anything you want and then click on the Insert Message link to have the message inserted (injected) into the I/O Capture List. This can be useful if you want to keep a record, embedded within the capture file, of the steps you are taking. This can also be helpful if you are sending a busTRACE capture to someone else to analyze. For example, you could type in I am about to insert my blank DVD disc and then wait for the disc to be recognized by a DVD recording software package. You could then type in I am about to start the recording process and then start the recording process. This can help you, or someone else, analyze the captured I/O activity.
